Take your car, your canoe or johnboat, or your walking shoes and explore the river in many different locations. Because it is relatively undeveloped, the only place you can drive your car along the river is the Myakka River State Park.

Snook Haven at the end of Venice Avenue offers waterfront eating, music, boat tours and a boat ramp.

Myakka River State Park offers canoeing, boating, fishing, biking, walking, backpacking, birding. A nature trail, a museum, and a birdwalk help you learn about the plants and animals of the park. The park offers 38 miles of back-country hiking, horse-back riding and overnight camping trails.
