Conservation easements are gifts or sales of selected property rights. Land owners can continue to use their property in traditional ways but the conveyance of other rights insures that the basic character of the land will be preserved into the future. Depending on what each easement contains, land owners may also reduce their property taxes.
Conservation easements are governed by Florida law and the Myakka Conservancy has experience assisting land owners with easements to preserve the agricultural and natural heritage of the Myakka River and watershed. Land owners or their attorneys interested in learning more about conservation easements are invited to contact the Myakka Conservancy. |
